No Excuses: Only Actions.
Have you ever looked up from a task you were completing and asked yourself “HOW DID I GET HERE?” Maybe the question was focused on your job or personal relationships. Perhaps it was your health or weight. Regardless of the topic, I think we can all agree on one point.
Where you are in your life is a direct result of the choices you have made, are making every day, and will make for years to come.
The philosophy I am working to develop is this:
To live a self-directed life where I’m always striving to be the best version of myself that I can be.
Consistently improving, learning something new, and challenging myself to get outside of my comfort zones are things that I am working on daily.
Many will say “we are a victim of our circumstances,” and to a certain extent, yes, that is true. But for those of us fortunate enough to be able to be on the Internet reading this article, I have to believe that we possess sufficient infrastructure, and have enough of our basic needs met so that we can ultimately influence the trajectory of our own life. It is time that we stop making excuses for the places we have arrived at, and form an action-based plan to get us where we desire to be.
We are not “stuck” at a job we don’t like. Last time I checked, this is a free country and I can choose who I want to become. We are not forced to eat food that has no health benefits for us (No Rachel, that chocolate chip cookie did not force itself down my throat), and geeze I can join any gym I want within arms reach from my house. So what is my excuse for being out of breath when I climb a flight of stairs…(Please tell me you have been there before…I am working on it).
So I want to challenge you…
Are you living a life that you have designed?? Or are you letting your circumstances define who you are becoming??
I want us all to learn from each other and grow together. I believe to be the best version of myself I need to have a Balance in my life that can come from 5 key categories. I am not there yet, and that is one reason this blog exists: to hold myself accountable and create a dialog of my journey on my way to figuring out what this “life” is all about.
To begin this journey, I think ability to live a FUN and FULFILLED life can be found by
balancing these Five Fundamentals:
1: Faith
2: Family & Friends
3: Finances
4: Fitness
5: Fatigue
The self-directed life is all about forming a well-balanced life where you control HOW you spend your time, energy and money. Join me as we embark on this beautiful journey called life. Grow with me and let’s learn how to live a life that we have designed.
